Skull Waffles with Berry Sauce

These chocolate skulls are great plain or dusted with powdered monk fruit. I like to serve them with berry sauce and fresh berries for a fun Halloween dessert. You will need a skull shaped waffle iron such as this one here. A bit of whipped cream makes an excellent addition as well. In place of the berry sauce, some jam would be good too.

Ingredients

Waffles

Berry Sauce

Instructions

  • Combine all waffle ingredients in a blender and process until completely smooth.
  • Heat a waffle iron and spray it with avocado oil spray. Spoon the batter onto the iron and cook according to your waffle ironā€™s directions. Generally, a couple of tablespoons is enough to fill this skull mold. Cook for 2-4 minutes, until crisp. Repeat with remaining batter. Dust skulls with powdered monk fruit, if desired.
  • Press the berries through a fine mesh sieve with the back of a spoon and discard the seeds (it can help to pulse the berries in a small blender first). Add stevia and salt to taste.
  • To serve, spoon berry sauce between serving plates. Top with skull waffles and garnish with fresh berries, if using.
