Ingredients
- 1 cup parmesan cheese grated
- 3/4 cup almond flour blanched
- 3 garlic cloves peeled
- 1 teaspoon butter extract
optional, for flavorāØ
- water, as needed
- 1 jar low sugar marinara such as Raoās or Primal Kitchen, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ĀŗF and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
- Combine all the ingredients except for water in a food processor and pulse to combine. Add water, a little at a time, pulsing well between additions until the dough just comes together and can be shaped without falling apart. Test a bit by rolling it into a ball and then pressing slightly to flatten. If it falls apart, add more water.
- Divide the dough into 16 portions. Shape the breadsticks by rolling the portions of dough into balls. Then roll the balls into large cylinders using your hands and place these onto a cutting bard. Use the palm and heel of your hand to gently but firmly roll the cylinder into a long breadstick.
- If making these into bones, press the ends of both cylinders in to gather a bit of dough at the ends of the stick in a roughly triangular shape. Using your fingers, press into the middle of the triangle to create an indentation and bone shape, use your fingers to pinch the dough to shape it as you like.
- Transfer to prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool for them to crisp up entirely. Serve with marinara.
Notes
The more golden brown you get these, the crisper they will be. Additionally, rolling them into thin sticks rather than shaping into bones will also allow them to cook faster and become crisp. They do spread a bit so leave 1/2-inch between them for cooking.Ā
