Pulled Pork with BBQ Sauce
Sweet, tangy, and a bit smoky, this is a delicious and simple pulled pork. I like to pair it with a bright, crisp slaw for a full meal.

Ingredients
- 1 onion diced
- 3/4 cup ketchup low sugar such as Primal Kitchen or Alterna Sweets
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 4-6 drops stevia glycerite 2-4 tablespoons monk fruit, powdered, or 1/4-1/2 cup monk fruit, granulated, or sweetener to taste (you can stir it in at the end and adjust as needed)
- 1 tablespoon molasses optional
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce optional
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavor optional
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce optional but adds umami and you won’t taste it
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 4 pounds pork shoulder
Instructions
- Combine everything but the pork directly in the slow cooker. Season the pork with salt all over then place it into the slow cooker and turn to coat. Cover and cook 8-10 hours. Shred with two forks.
- Alternatively, add everything to a pressure cooker and cook on the highest setting for 50 minutes with a natural release. Shred with 2 forks.
