Peruvian Chicken Meatballs with Green Sauce
Flavorful and juicy meatballs get a lift from a bright and punchy herbal garlicky green sauce. You can make this either low or high fat, as desired.

Ingredients
Meatballs
- 1 1/3 pounds lean ground turkey chicken, beef, pork, or a mixture, use full fat for higher fat
- 1/2 cup pork panko or almond flour for pork-free
- 1 egg lightly beaten
- 2 green onions chopped fine
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 tablespoons gluten-free soy sauce or coconut aminos
- 1 1/2 teaspoons gelatin unflavored
- 1/2 teaspoons paprika ground, omit for nightshade free
- 1 teaspoon cumin ground
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder omit for nightshade free
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper fresh ground
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Sauce
- 4 ounces reduced fat cream cheese or kite hill cream cheese if dairy-free, use full fat for higher fat
- 1/4 cup low fat greek yogurt or 1/4 cup mayo or aioli if dairy-free
- 2 cloves garlic peeled
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cilantro 1 bunch, including stems
- 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños omit for nightshade free
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper fresh ground
Instructions
- Combine all meatball ingredients in a large bowl and use your hands to mix until evenly combined. Form into about 1 tablespoon size meatballs, about 32 meatballs.
- Heat a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat. When hot, add the avocado oil. When the oil is hot, add the meatballs. Cook until golden, turning occasionally until browned on all sides, about 10-15 minutes.
- While the meatballs cook, combine all sauce ingredients a blender and blend until completely smooth. Set aside.
- Serve the meatballs with the sauce.
