Steak with Garlic and Herbs

This marinade works for any cut of beef. You can then cook as desired, such as on the grill, in the oven, or on the stovetop as here. This is great for a protein sparing modified fast.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup gluten-free soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 3 tablespoons monk fruit golden (omit if using coconut aminos)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest grated
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 pounds top sirloin steak tips often sold as flap meat
  • 2 tablespoons butter or butter flavored coconut oil, for dairy-free, optional
  • 1/4 cup parsley minced, or any other herbs/mixture of herbs you like such as rosemary, chives, tarragon, or thyme

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients except butter and parsley and marinate the steak for 30 minutes at room temperature. Then thoroughly dry the steak, reserving marinade.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon avocado oil in a hot pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides cooked to your liking, about 7 minutes for medium-rare (125ºF). Remove to a plate and set aside.
  • Add reserved marinade to the pan and reduce by half. Whisk in the butter and stir in the parsley off heat. Serve over steak.
