Chinese Five Spice Pork Belly

This is a savory, sweet, umami pork belly seasoned with Chinese five spice. It makes a rich and satisfying meal when served with some bright fresh greens. A squeeze of lime juice makes a nice addition.

  • Cook the pork belly in a pan over medium high heat until it is cooked through and is golden brown, 5-10 minutes.
  • Remove all rendered fat from the pan and then add the garlic and ginger, cook for one more minute, or until fragrant.
  • Add the soy sauce, monk fruit, and five spice powder. Cook until little liquid remains.
  • Off heat, stir in the toasted sesame oil and serve atop butter lettuce.

Notes

The nutrition facts are assuming that 4 tablespoons of rendered fat will be removed following browning of the pork belly.
