Chinese Five Spice Pork Belly
This is a savory, sweet, umami pork belly seasoned with Chinese five spice. It makes a rich and satisfying meal when served with some bright fresh greens. A squeeze of lime juice makes a nice addition.

pork belly
cut into bite size-pieces

garlic cloves
minced
2
teaspoons
ginger
fresh grated

gluten-free soy sauce
or 3 tablespoons coconut aminos

monk fruit
granulated, omit if using coconut aminos

Instructions
Cook the pork belly in a pan over medium high heat until it is cooked through and is golden brown, 5-10 minutes.
Remove all rendered fat from the pan and then add the garlic and ginger, cook for one more minute, or until fragrant.
Add the soy sauce, monk fruit, and five spice powder. Cook until little liquid remains.
Off heat, stir in the toasted sesame oil and serve atop butter lettuce.
Notes
The nutrition facts are assuming that 4 tablespoons of rendered fat will be removed following browning of the pork belly.
