Mojo Steak Tips with Cilantro Sauce
These steak bites are seasoned with cumin, allspice, chipotle and orange for a sweet and earthy base and are then brightened with a punchy and fresh citrus, cilantro, and pepper sauce. This dish comes together fast and can also be made low fat for a protein sparing modified fast.

Ingredients
Steak Tips
- 1 pound beef steak tips cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon coconut aminos
- couple drops of orange oil or 1/4 teaspoon orange extract, or zest of 1 orange
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon chipotle pepper ground, omit for nightshade-free
- 1/2 tablespoon avocado oil or 1 teaspoon for PSMF
Mojo Sauce
- 1/4 cup cilantro packed
- 1/2 jalapeño seeds removed if you like less spice, omit for nightshade-free
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 drops orange oil or 1/4 teaspoon orange extract optional, for flavor
- 1 tablespoon lime juice 1 lime, juiced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice 1 lemon, juiced
- 1/2 teaspoon fish sauce optional, for umami
- 1/2 tablespoon monk fruit powdered
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons avocado oil omit for PSMF
- pinch xanthan gum optional, if you want the sauce to be a bit thicker
Instructions
- Combine all steak ingredients except the avocado oil in a large bowl and stir to coat evenly. Set aside to marinate for 15 minutes at room temperature, or up to overnight.
- Combine all mojo sauce ingredients in a small blender and process until completely smooth. Taste and adjust salt and sweetener, if needed. Add xanthan gum, if desired and blend again. Set aside.
- Heat 1/2 tablespoon avocado oil (or 1 teaspoon for PSMF) in a hot pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides cooked to your liking, about 7 minutes for medium rare (125ºF).
- Serve with the mojo sauce over top.
