Hot Apple Cider

This drink is warm and spicy and perfect for the holidays. You can make a large batch and reheat as desired.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 packets mulling spices such as Martinelli’s (cinnamon, orange peel, cloves, allspice)
  • 4 bags of apple tea such as Tazo, optional, enhances apple flavor
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • stevia glycerite or other sweetener, to taste
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 teaspoon apple extract enhances apple flavor

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients except apple extract and bring to a boil. Reduce to a low simmer and cook for 10 minutes. Strain liquid and stir in apple extract, if using. Adjust sweetness to taste and serve with a cinnamon stick for garnish, if desired.
