Season fish with salt and pepper and set aside.
Melt butter in a large pan over medium high heat. Add the shallots and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about one minute more. Stir in cream, broth, and pesto and reduce heat to a simmer. Add the fish filets and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until fish is cooked through and flakes when tested with a fork.
Remove fish to a serving dish and reduce sauce until slightly thickened, another 5 minutes or so. Spoon over fish and serve with lemon and more basil as garnish.
