I’m Jenny and I began my health journey during graduate school when I was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic – that’s when I learned just how important diet and lifestyle are to our health. I was told to speak with a nutritionist but decided to look into alternative research as I knew that I was already following the mainstream guidelines. Instead, I opted to follow a low carb, ketogenic lifestyle and ultimately reversed my pre-diabetes. I now focus on low carb, high protein meals.
I’ve actually been interested in health and healing for as long as I can remember. I went to grad school to study immunology because I believed advancements in this field would have the most direct impact on people’s health. While I appreciate how important this type of research is, I came to realize how little I would be able to actually change the course of someone’s health experience if my research was too isolated from the real world. Next, I joined the biotech industry in an effort to have a more immediate role. The industry experience I had made me realize that although people in this field have good intentions, it’s a business. Unless you can make money, even if a healing modality is effective, it will not be pursued. I watched as our immune oncology drugs went into clinical trials and became dismayed that the measure of success was the extension of a terminally ill patient’s life by a month or two, often with terrible side effects. Ultimately, I decided it was time to leave the industry and focus on other tools for people to help themselves lead a healthy life.
I have always loved cooking and photography (though I have no formal training in either). I am happiest when creating something that is both delicious and healthy! I realized that this was an ideal avenue for me to help empower people on their own health journey or even just inspire others looking for something new to cook. Therefore, I hope that this site full of recipes and photography helps bring health and joy to all who stop by!
